“An oil named Castor.”

“An oil named Castor.” When I was a kid one of our family traditions was to go to grandmas house in Harlem just before winter. Before we would go home all of the cousins would line up like soldiers because grandma was going to give each of us a table spoon of Castor oil! I guess she believed that it would protect us throughout the winter. Do you want to talk about child abuse? Sometimes grandma put sugar in the oil, and sometimes she gave it to us with a slice of orange, and sometimes she gave it to us straight. If you threw it up you would have to get back in line for a “booster!” Did it work? I don’t know, but I’m still here!

We Christians will have to make sure we keep taking our spiritual medicine so that we don’t catch what the World is passing around. Yes prayers, Bible readings and fellowship with believers may not come in a bottle, but you know when to “shake well” before taking. “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD which made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2. Yep, that medicine works!
