Emergency!!! My wife and I are emergency contact for our grandchildren who are in Public school. A message was left on our answering machine saying that “tomorrow” at 10:00 am, the Parent Coordinator will have a class for the parents on Meditation to relieve stress. Meditation to relieve stress?! Well that call stressed me out! Questions began to form in my head. Whatever happened to separation of church and state and who are you meditating to? I’ve told my local church over and over that, according to statistics, true atheism is on the wane, but people embracing spirituality has increased. Can’t spiritually be classified as a religion? Don’t you do it religiously? I’m sure that today’s parents are stressed out, but as a practicing Christian I’d like to offer an alternative. If you are a Christian parent who is stressed out, try a prescription from your own Bible. King David said: “But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doeth he meditate day and night.” Psalm 1:2. Don’t do anything that’s going to draw the wrong spirit into your life. Again, remember what David said. “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14. Church, I think we have an emergency!!!
