“Stay in the race; time will take you out.”

“Stay in the race; time will take you out.” That was the topic of a sermon a dear friend of mine, who is now with the Lord preached some twenty years ago. I thought about it when I heard that Dr. Charles Stanley the founder of In Touch Ministries had passed away last week at age 90. Ironically two of the Saints that I knew who were also in their 90’s passed last week. I had followed Dr. Stanley’s ministry for several years and heard that although he had resigned his pulpit at age 88, he yet was involved in ministry. The 92 years old mother who passed also last week was involved in a weekly prayer ministry. The Bible describes our Christian life as a race, and there is no quit for us until we cross the finish line. While we can’t deny that some have fallen by the wayside, we can’t allow people to stop us from finishing the race our good God has set before us. We must stay in the race because time will take us out! So hang in there because the prize is at the end! “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” St. Matthew 24:13.

“When doubt is gone.” What a way to end a month. Someone is pushed onto the train tracks again, a Police officer is slain in the line of duty, and a bridge in Baltimore falls down with people on it. T
